Vermont Senator John Kerry has won the first two states, and come Tuesday night, it should be possible to gauge his strength for the remainder of the primary season. About 12 percent of the required 2,162 delegates needed to receive the nomination are up for grabs on Tuesday.
The Arizona Republic reported on Thursday that Kerry, former Vermont Governor Dr. Howard Dean, and retired General Wesley Clark are in a dead heat, with North Carolina Senator John Edwards a close fourth.
None of the candidates have campaigned in Graham or Greenlee counties, home to more than 10,000 registered Democrats.
In Graham County, there are 7,624 active democrats and 1,343 inactive Democrats who are eligible to vote in the PRE. In Greenlee County, there are 2,864 registered Democrats who can vote. An inactive Democrat is defined as someone who is a registered Democrat for whom the county recorder's officer does not have a valid mailing address.
Inactive Democrats can still vote in the primary as long as they show up and provide a valid mailing address.
Polling Sites
In Graham County, there are seven polling places where people can cast their votes. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
