Thatcher, Willcox, Globe, San Manuel, San Carlos, Sah-uarita and Cibecue are definitely committed to the Safford Cross Country Invi-tational at the fairgrounds on Wednesday.

Santa Cruz, Baboquivari and Canyon State Academy have verbally committed to the invitational.

Safford cross country head coach Herman Andrews said the race will feature the same schools as last year.

Andrews said the Safford girls team has run well this season. The boys do not have enough runners to qualify for team events, but there are some individuals who have improved their times in recent weeks.

The Safford head coach specifically mentioned Angel Sanchez as a runner who has improved his times tremendously throughout the year.

Andrews said Globe, Sah-uarita, Willcox, San Manuel and Thatcher have standout runners.

The junior varsity race starts at 3 p.m., the girls varsity starts at 3:45 p.m. and the boys varsity at 4:30.
