Grace Nabor sailed to easily win the Democratic nomination for Greenlee County District 1 Justice of the Peace. It was one of only two contested local races in the Sept. 12 Primary Election.

The total includes early voting ballots. About 20 provisional ballots remain. All results are unofficial until they are canvassed next week.
In the District 2 Constable race, Michael Acosta appears to have won a narrow victory over fellow Democrat Julie Kluth by a 132-125 margin. John Tea had 107 votes.
There was a long delay in the vote count due to a fierce rain storm that knocked out communications lines from electronic voting machines at polling sites to the county courthouse in Clifton. Machines had to be brought in from the eight precinct polling sites and downloaded at the courthouse.
Despite the poor turnout of only 34 percent of registered voters, unofficial vote counting was not wrapped up until about 11:30 p.m. due to the storm-related delay.
