Informative talks are scheduled throughout the day, and Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard will be the keynote speaker during lunch.
Attorney General God-dard was at the forefront of the initial state efforts to combat crystal meth. His campaign to target the production, distribution and use of crystal meth helped to bring this public health issue out of meetings and into the public eye. His efforts have included proposed legislation, implementation of DEC (Drug Endangered Children) Protocol and now an active role in implementing the Arizona Meth Project, a high-impact ad campaign that focuses public attention on the devastating realities of meth.
In addition to the wide range of topics to be presented, there will be a K-9 demonstration given by Officer Glenn Orr and K-9 dog Fritz in the parking lot at 8 a.m. and at 1 p.m.
The Graham-Greenlee Meth Awareness Confer-ence began as a collaborative effort to inform our communities of a lethal threat — crystal meth. Last year’s conference was coordinated as an attempt to educate the community about a life-threatening drug that was already wreaking havoc on families, friends, social systems and businesses through Graham and Greenlee counties. Because last year’s conference was a vital eye-opener and an educational tool to many individuals, the conference sponsors were inspired to continue the education, collaboration and open communication that are necessary to help our communities.
