Summer Youth Program fosters leadership

Published on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 9:49 AM MST

The Graham County Summer Youth Leadership Program is a group of kids learning how to be leaders and how to better the community through volunteer service, teaching new ways to improve lives by helping to make a safer community. The county appreciates the support of sponsors who contribute to the program’s success: Safford Unified School District, Graham County Probation, Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education, and Mount Graham Safe House.

The goal of the program is to use skills in the real world. The program’s service project this year is making beanies for newborns and donating them to the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center. Forty-seven beanies were donated July 26 to Eliza Davis for the obstetrics department of the hospital.

Members of the Graham County Leadership are part of a program to make beanies for newborns. Call David Bernie at 322-5521 for more information. Contributed photo
