The lecture will be presented by Dr. Anna Neuzil, a ceramic analyst for Tierra Right of Way Services.

“Dr. Neuzil worked extensively in the Gila and Aravaipa valleys while developing her dissertation.

“Her collaborative publications in ‘Archaeology Southwest,’ the journal of the Center for Desert Archaeology, have added immeasurably to the scholarship of archaeology in our area,” Harry Swanson, dean of Discovery Park Campus, said.

While an employee of the Center for Desert Archaeology, Dr. Neuzil and her colleague, Patrick Lyons, identified five new types of Roosevelt red ware from examples contained in the college’s Mills collection, a significant assortment of ancient Native American pottery and artifacts donated to the college by Jack and Vera Mills.

The collection can be viewed during regular business hours in the college’s Student Services building.

Neuzil will present her slide show lecture in the Jupiter Room of the Discovery Park Campus located at 1651 W. Discovery Park Blvd. in Safford.

The program is free, and the public is invited. For more information about the Discover Anthropology lecture series contact Swanson at 428-6260.
