Festival of Trees starts Dec. 8

The annual Festival of Trees begins Dec. 8, 7 p.m., in the Volunteers Hall of St. Rose of Lima Church in Safford with a ribbon-cutting and blessing of trees. The public is invited to this opening event and also to the tree display on the following dates:

Dec. 9, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.

Dec. 10-14, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and 5-8 p.m.

Dec. 15, 5-8 p.m.

Dec. 16, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Admission is free. There will be baked goods, crafts, stuffed animals and other goodies available for sale. Burros will be sold in the evening.

Everyone is invited to display a tree. It must be a minimum of 5 feet with two strands of lights, a tree skirt or white sheet and an extension cord with the owner’s name on it. Trees will be set up Dec. 5-7, 5-7 p.m. No trees will be accepted after 7 p.m. on Dec. 7.

Trees must be dismantled Monday, Dec. 17, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
