The Globe Tigers were easy prey for the Safford boys soccer team Thursday night.

The Bulldogs dominated from the opening whistle in a 10-0 rout.

Safford head coach Chris Gibbs has dealt with several injured and sick players over the last few games, so it must have been nice to see something close to a full team on the field.

Junior Jacob Williams had missed playing time for a laundry list of reasons that included a broken nose, a concussion, and he was also diagnosed with mononucleosis.

Williams played Thursday against Globe, but the Tigers probably wish he hadn’t.

Williams dribbled circles around Globe defenders and often beat two and three players at a time.

He finished with four goals and three assists. Williams ended the season with 30 goals and 24 assists.

Plenty of other Bulldogs found the back of the net on another chilly night in Safford.

Kade Crockett scored two goals, and Isaac Tapia, Michael Gaines, Marcus Clonts and Jordan Hunt scored a goal apiece.

After the game, a coin flip was conducted to see if Safford (tied with Pusch Ridge in the standings) would receive the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the state tournament.

The Bulldogs won the toss and are the No. 1 seed from the South region.

Safford’s likely first-round opponent at state will be River Valley. The game is Feb. 1 at 7:30 at the Tempe Sports Complex.
