Eddie worked for the University of Arizona as a soil and water analyst. He also worked as a farm manager for the LDS Church Farm in Lost Hills, Calif., for 10 years, as a farm manager for the University of Arizona in Yuma for two years and the farm manager for the U of A Experimental Farm in Safford for 16 years. He retired in 2003 and moved to Eden.
He and his wife served an LDS mission to the Bridgeport, Conn., Mission. Eddie loved his family and was always there for them. He enjoyed hunting and camping with his family.
Eddie was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was active and served in many positions throughout his life. He loved to be the Gospel doctrine teacher and was the ward mission leader.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Eden; eight children and their families – Monty of Morenci, Carie Jo (Doug) Taylor of Bakersfield, Calif., Joel (Susan) of Bakersfield, Charles (Cal) of Phoenix, William (Jaleen) of Gilbert, Stephanie (J.D.) Hannah of St. Davids, LaRena (Ryan) Kouts of Safford and Jared of Eden; four brothers, Ray (Gloria) of Eden, Ross (Pam) of St. Johns, Dick (Ada) of Mesa and Mannie (Linda) of Mesa; 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, at the Pima LDS Church on Highway 70 in Pima. Friends may call from 12 to 2 p.m. prior to services on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Eden Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
Family suggests donations be made to the ward missionary fund.
