Dear Editor:

I want to personally thank all of the people who worked so hard for the wonderful Fourth of July program held at the fairgrounds. I am sure I will miss some very deserving individuals, and I apologize up front for missing them.

First, special thanks to Mr. Dick Bingham and his committee, who put this whole thing together; Mayor Green and the city of Safford staff, who worked so hard behind the scenes; the Graham County Parks staff; Reed Richins for the music and sound systems; the Safford Fire Department for the fireworks; the Thatcher and Pima fire departments for their participation; the law enforcement agencies (Safford Police Department, Graham County Sheriff, Department of Public Safety), who provided crowd and traffic control; emcee Randy Petty; and all of the entertainers who performed for us.

I am sure you couldn’t have experienced a finer celebration of our Independence Day anywhere else in the country. I am looking forward to next year to see if they can top this year.

But most importantly, a special thank you for the men and women who have served and are serving to protect our freedoms and our right to be able to have a celebration like the one we all enjoyed. We are very fortunate to live in the country we live in that is truly the land of the free and the home of the brave – the greatest nation in the world.

Thanks to all who made this program possible.

Sincerely,

Terry Hinton

Thatcher town manager
