I would like to reply to Mrs. Hill’s comments in the front-page story on July 16. I am a customer of Ashcreek Water Co. Almost every weekend in the summer we are totally out of water for 6 to 8 hours on both Saturday and Sunday.
Does Mrs. Hill understand what that means? It means that I cannot run my swamp cooler when it’s 105. I can’t wash my dirty dishes, do laundry, wash my hands and face, shower, and most importantly, flush my toilet! Apparently Mrs. Hill thinks that watering her trees is more important than any of these things.
Imagine trying to have guests over on the weekend and no water coming out of the tap to prepare for them. I have also driven around Ashcreek Acres and I see many houses with lots of trees, and even some with green grass! Man, people, Mr. Barney has asked and begged you over and over for the past year to please conserve water! Would you enjoy spending a weekend without water? I don’t think so.
Mrs. Hill, I saw your precious trees, and they should surely be able to stand on their own after 10 years. If not, move to Missouri where there are trees galore. We live in the desert. And just because you “pay your water bill” doesn’t mean that others are not suffering for your lack of concern and selfishness.
Next time I’m out of water, can I come to your house and get water from your hose to carry home to flush my toilet? Those of you at the north end of Cluff Ranch Road have probably never even been out of water. Come on down here next weekend and see how fun it can be!
