Safford Lions aid McKenzie Braley at installation dinner

At the June 2008 installation dinner of the Safford Lions Club, President Ron Hansen presented McKen-zie Braley with a check for $1,000. The Safford Lions had recently heard of McKenzie Braley, 8, who suffers from JDM (juvenile dermatomyositis), and they wanted to help her family defray some of her medical expenses.

BLM seeks nominations for Safford Rangeland Resource Team
Citizens interested in the management and conservation of public lands have an opportunity to become directly involved through participation on the Bureau of Land Management Safford Field Office’s Rangeland Resource Team. Nominations are being accepted for positions on the RRT. Those selected will serve three-year appointments to the broad-based citizen council. The nomination deadline is Friday, Aug. 15, 2008.

Foster Parent Classes are Thursday evenings through Sept. 4 from 6-9 p.m. at the Blake Foundation, 250 W. 15th St. in Safford. Foster Care Specialist Jane Villalba said the classes are free and open to all who are interested in becoming foster parents, even those who are considering being licensed but aren’t quite sure about it.

Safford Christian Academy enrolling
Safford Christian Aca-demy is enrolling new students for the 2008-2009 school year. The school, established in 1979, is the oldest Christian school in the Safford area. Grades are pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Pre-kindergarten is offered for children age 4. Kindergarten is offered for ages 4-5.
