The candidates were Sydney Hay, Sylvia Allen, Mark Herrington, Jim Palmer, PJ Allred and Darlene Alder, as well as other officials running for office.
Hay is campaigning as a U.S. Congressional candidate for District One. Allen is campaigning for state senator District Five. Herrington is campaigning for county supervisor District 3, and Palmer is campaigning for county supervisor District Two. Allred is running for county sheriff and Alder for county assessor.
“Congress is holding us hostage,” Hay said, as she addressed several oil issues. Hay is concerned about a decision made by Congress to not drill for oil in specific areas of the United States where “we know oil is.” She said the decision hurts the average family as well as puts U.S. security at risk.
If elected, Hay plans to join the Resources Committee to change the no-drilling amendment.
Before the open house, Hay campaigned at Jo-Bi’s Market — pumping gas while talking about her position in pressing matters, such as gas prices.
Hay plans to visit every community in the district before the election.
A meet-and-greet for Sydney Hay will be at John and Judy Rhodes’ home at 1207 S. Fifth Ave. on Aug. 22. For more information call 428-3169.
Information and literature on all Republican candidates as well as campaigning and voters registration will be available through the election at the Republican Headquarters. The headquarters’ open house was Aug. 6.
The building is located at 1420 First Ave. For more information call 322-1043 or 651-0455.

Ms Attaway is one of the most professional elected officials we have in that entire building. Elect Darlene and you'll find out how wrong you were, but it'll be too late. "

Happy days if the Republicans can put a puppet in that office! They'll use it to reward those they like, and punish those they don't. "

Like her business deals, if elected she'll have it in a mess in no time. "
