By popular demand, Eastern Arizona College is again offering a ceramics class that will leave students with an original Nativity scene painted by their own hands just in time for Christmas. The class will be taught by Rennie Godfrey and Debbie Bass at Craft Connection, located at 610 S. Fifth Ave. in Safford, Tuesday evenings from 6-9:30 p.m. The section number, which will be needed when registering, is 5686.

Everyone who takes the class will work on a Nativity scene using traditional and new painting techniques including dry brushing, illuminating wash, layering paint, and embellishing with jewels and other accessories.

“I’ve done a lot of research on the color palettes used by some of the great masters including Michaelangelo and Rafael to create a color scheme for those students interested in an old-world theme for their Nativity scene,” Godfrey said.

Regular tuition applies for this two-credit class, and the ceramic Nativity scenes are extra. Replacement pieces are available for those who have lost or broken pieces of their Nativity scenes at home.
