Block party to benefit historical preservation

Everyone is invited to join the fun at the Historic Preservation Block Party on Main Street in Safford on Sept. 29 from 5-11 p.m. This is the first of what is planned to be an annual event.

Souvenir coffee cups will be available for $5; souvenir booklets, $10; and souvenir bricks (to be set in front of the theatre engraved with family's name or message), $50. Participants will be automatically enrolled in a raffle to receive a great prize.

Talented musical groups will perform, and a family-oriented movie will be shown.

Raffle tickets will be sold for extra chances to win additional prizes. Also, annual memberships can be purchased as follows: Gold, $200, includes all three souvenirs and a raffle ticket; Copper, $150, includes cup and booklet souvenirs and one raffle ticket; Turquoise, $100, includes cup or booklet souvenir and one raffle ticket; Regular Family, $25, includes one raffle ticket.

All proceeds earned at this block party will benefit the Mayor's Historical Preservation Committee.
