Cassandra Richins

Cassandra Auguste Richins, 22, a resident of Albuquerque, N.M., passed away Sept. 5, 2008, in Wisconsin. She was known to her family as Cassy and to her friends as Drea.

She is survived by her parents, Tim and Sandra O’Rear of Albuquerque and Richard and Pamela Richins of Morenci; siblings Holly and Cody Richins of Albuquerque, Shasta (Kyle) Doubek of Albuquerque, Jared O’Rear of Las Cruces, N.M., and Pammy Richins of Morenci; grandparents Jack and LuDene Nelson of Cuba, N.M., and Mel and Jan Richins of Animas, N.M.; and her niece, Mackenzie of Albuquerque.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Beth Richins of Animas. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She left behind a list of friends too numerous to name.

Cassy was born Jan. 18, 1986, in Orem, Utah. She attended school in Animas, Las Cruces, and started the seventh grade at McKinley Middle School in Albu-querque. She graduated in 2004 from Del Norte High School. While attending Del Norte, she was a cheerleader, a member of the cross country team, baseball manager, Key Club and was a member of the Knights of the Round Table.

She attended NMSU, where she became a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. She worked the last few years as a waitress and took classes when she could in Albuquerque. She wanted to be a nurse. She had recently moved to Wisconsin.

Cassy had a smile that would light up a room as soon as she walked in. She had a kind, forgiving heart and was always willing to give everyone a second chance. She had a special place in her heart for the veteran biker community, especially the members of “F-Troop.” She called many of them her family.

It was said shortly after her passing that everyone liked her. As she grew up and met new people, she never forgot the ones she had already known.

Services are Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Boulevard Chapel. Interment will follow Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. in Eagar.

" I was her step sister. We shared the same name and were only a month apart. She was my best friend growing up and we were inseparable. What happened was the worst thing i could ever imagine! It doesn't seem real that this could happen to someone so loved. I think about her constantly and sometimes i just want to pick up the phone and hear her voice but then I realize that she is gone. Even though she is gone she will never be forgoten. I will always keep her close to my heart. "

" I just want to say that the short few months that drea and i were friends she was a better friend then people i have known for years. She lit up the room when she walked in. I'm so very sorry for your loss and hope that things can gradually get better. I know how hard it can be. Your family is in my constant prayers. "

" I am so sorry to hear of this tragedy. I graduated high school with this young lady's mother. I cannot imagine losing a child. I do not have an address for Tim and Sandra O'Rear, or Mr. and Mrs. Nelson. If anyone has their addresses, I would appreciate it. The whole family is in my prayers. "
