The No. 16 Monsters (4-1, 1-1) drubbed Pima Community College 56-0 in Tucson on Saturday night one week after creaming American Sports University 59-0.
Eastern’s starters stayed in the game for the majority of three quarters, but the reserves also saw plenty of action against the Aztecs (0-5).
Running back Mike Smith had nine carries for 84 yards and a touchdown, and Calvin Fuller added 58 yards and two scores on four rushes.
EAC, which leads the nation in rushing, gashed the Aztecs for 569 yards on the ground. The Monsters only attempted two passes, but one of the attempts was a 7-yard touchdown from quarterback Caleb Walden to receiver David Culbertson.
The Monsters’ defense, not to be outdone, allowed zero yards rushing (on 17 attempts) and held Pima quarterback Mike Rademacher to 6-26 passing for 67 yards and an interception.
Defensive back Tyrese McGruder hauled in his second interception of the season, and lineman Arron Kleinpeter registered the Mon-sters’ only sack.
The Aztecs were 0-11 on third down and 0-2 on fourth down.
The Monsters built a 21-0 lead after one quarter on touchdown runs by Fuller (44 yards), Smith (3) and Reid (48).
A 7-yard run by Aaron Palmer and a 31-yard run by Steve Jackson put EAC up 35-0 at the half.
Palmer and Fuller had touchdown runs in the third quarter, and the Walden-to-Culbertson passing touchdown finished the scoring for the night with no time remaining in the third quarter.
The competition gets significantly tougher for the Monsters on Saturday when they host No. 13 Glendale Community College (4-1, 2-1) at 6 p.m.
Eastern comes in as the highest-scoring team in the WSFL at 48.2 points per game, while both teams boast strong defenses. EAC has allowed 13 points per game, and the Gauchos have surrendered 15.8 points per game.
