Presentation at Safford Library tremendously enjoyed

Editor:

I would like to give special thanks to the Safford Library staff (great job, Sally). Last night, I attended a wonderful gathering of neighbors for a presentation given by Roni Capin Rivera-Ashford on Preser-ving Families, Generations, Cultures and Their Hist-ories Through Books.

It was without a doubt the most enjoyable evening I have spent in a long time. From the beginning to the end, the evening was filled with laughter, wonderful information on cultures, the value of staying connected to family, and sharing old-time healing recipes from long ago, yet still used today.

We had the opportunity to hear her read her first children's book and feel the love that came from her writing. The room was filled with a warm, homey feeling, as if you were with friends, eating a fresh tortilla that had just come off a comal and was smothered in butter. The bouquet of fresh herbs presented to everyone was delightful, as were the warm herbal teas.

So again, I thank the staff for bringing such a special program to our community and leave with a Mexican dicho: La conversacion es el pasto del alma. Conversa-tion is good for the soul.
