Country Rock Fest is legitimate charity event

Editor:

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona has been receiving many phone calls from concerned residents and businesses in Safford about an upcoming Country Rock Fest being held in the area, with a portion of the proceeds being advertised as benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We absolutely appreciate being informed of events being held with our name so we can verify or discount the claims.

The Oct. 25 Country Rock Fest being held at Graham County Fairgrounds is part of a legitimate partnership between Native Star Presents and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona in which the foundation will receive $8 from each ticket sold. Unfortunately, the concerned individuals who have called our office weren’t concerned without reason; they informed me they were concerned because a particular person/group had told them it was not a legitimate event and that the Make-A-Wish Foundation was not involved.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes to local children with life-threatening medical conditions, like the two sons of Mr. Nofchissey, organizer of the Country Rock Fest. We rely on the generosity of local businesses, individuals and third-party fund-raisers such as the Country Rock Fest to help us bring hope, strength and joy to children during a very challenging time. It is very unfortunate that anyone would stifle legitimate fund-raising efforts without first contacting the organization to confirm whether or not they are legitimate. I encourage those who come across a charitable event they are concerned about to contact the charity directly.

Thank you.

" Make a Wish stated yesterday that the concert has been cancelled. We called to get tickets and Nofichissey said it was postponed until March or April. I wonder if all the sponsors and the people that bought tickets will get their money back until then? And they verified that it was not the wish of a child to put on or promote a concert rather they have granted wishes to the boys, but it had nothing to do with this concert as portrayed. "
