" This seminar won't be just about your unemployment checks. They will also be letting you know how the Dislocated Worker Program can help you look for another job. And believe it or not, Safford is only ONE hour from Morenci, not FIVE! "

The darn county RAISED our taxs, business was booming, no one wanted a Wal-Mart job now look where we all sit !!! Its our own fault with all our big spending and must HAVE IT NOW attitude, houses, new cars, ipods and evey other toy you wanted. "

Freeport is not announcing any further changes and that means you will need to watch the price of copper to know what to do next if you plan on staying in the same mining career path. "

He can be your spokesman and make more millions on you and then sell YOU his books to show you how you're being so persecuted by the money mongers and make even more money. This world or anyone else doesn't OWE you a living. Get up off your duff's and go find your own, and get a life. You're not the only one's in a mess that you are ultimately responsible for. "

If you had your priorities in order you might have a brighter outlook. The way you're going now you'll be no better off in six months than you are right now. "Bite the bullet" and get on with your future. The past holds no promises for you. You are wasting YOUR OWN time now - not your employer's! " "

" How nice of them-a seminar to teach you how to make $240 per week? Go on line and file your unemployment yourself-then you don't have to listen to them-they arent trying to help-if they were-they would've given some warning-made some concessions-and its not over-bagdad is set to lay off alot more-as well as morenci-they are going to ruin this valley-and people are defending them-this is going to end up affecting EVERYONE-so people who aren't F.M.I former employees-quit defending them-our economy here in the valley is about to be REALLY bad thanks to F.M.I. "

" How many people leaving the comments about whining were F.M.I Employees-and how many were layed off-there are mines in Az not ran by F.M.I. that aren't laying off-and believe me-they are letting go of supervisors-and people are right-let your ex-employees stay in there houses a while-F.M.I is filthy rich-they don't care about thier employees. The economy is bad-but F.M.I is no where near bankrupt-this is all about the budget and projections-and big bosses paycheck! "

Come on people nobody really thinks they should get carried along- due you?? This economic crisis didn't start/end with Freeport, they like anyone else is responding to conditions. I have heard of local businesses laying off, why one didn't even let it's employees know they were going out of business. Just left a note on the door!! Think about it a little bit. "

That's really great advice, but what about those who cannot afford it?

I've got friends who went to school on all the different student loans, and the offset from what they pay just toward the interest on their loans comprises the difference between their "educated" jobs and a fast food job. "

" I feel sorry for those who have to move out of FMI's housing. But you don't really expect them to allow people to live there for free when nobody in the household works for them. I'd love to have my house paid for by someone else too. Times are tough, but that's why we need to diversify our local economy. We need to be able to offer more jobs other than the copper mines. My best advice for the youth would be to stay in school and get an education. It can be hard to do, but its worth it. "

I have heard others mention their eminent evictions in only 30 days...how tragic! Not only do you lose your job, you get kicked off the island too! So at least they gave you an extension till..mid January...big deal, huh! They should let the people stay in their houses indefinately...It's not like anyone else will be moving in! John Shock needs a reality check. "

We are 8 months preg. have a 2 and 8 yr old and they tell us we have 30 days to move and with an extention till Jan 15th. But you can attend a meeting 5 hours away in Safford even though you now have no income for gas. "

" Actually, FMI has been more generous with the bonuses whereas PD was always skimpy. I think FMI is a more traditional mining company with the 'boom or bust' mentality as opposed to PD whose interests were more varied and therefore more stable. I have worked in the Morenci mine for 20 years. "

" How can PD be better. They came into Bagdad and almost deystroyed the town. A lousey place to WORK and live.
After being here for about 6 years, they had turned a very nice community into a "mining camp" like Morenci.
Freeport has been here less than two years and already Bagdad is starting to look and FEEL like a "community" again.

I have been in Bagdad for 21 years under 3 different Owners and there is no comparison between Freeport, #1, CyprusAmax, #2, and PD, #96. "
