Eastern Arizona College football player Emmanuel Livingston, 19, was arrested Oct. 21 after allegedly attempting to choke a fellow football player outside of the Mark Allen dormitory.

EAC Police were dispatched to the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center at 8:20 p.m. and made contact with the victim. He told police Livingston approached him as he was leaving the dorm and they had a verbal confrontation that had been instigated during football practice earlier in the day. He said Livingston then grabbed his neck and choked him as he threw him against a wall.

The victim’s mother told police her son had three fractures in his jaw that required surgery.

According to Assistant Chief Randall Morris’ report, officer Eric Mayhew and Morris encountered Livingston outside Mark Allen dormitory shortly after 9 p.m.

Livingston denied he had anything to do with the assault but admitted to arguing with the victim at football practice. He said he had two witnesses that could verify his story.

After initially giving conflicting accounts, the witnesses admitted to seeing Livingston choke the victim with one hand while pinning him against the wall. They said the victim passed out and fell onto the concrete patio floor. Officers noted a large amount of dried blood on the concrete approximately 25 feet from the entrance to the dorm.

Officer Mayhew arrested Livingston and booked him into the Graham County Jail on one count of aggravated assault. His preliminary hearing is Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Todd Haynie, spokesperson for the college, said the school had no comment at this point.

He said EAC has taken no disciplinary action against Living-ston and is waiting for him to be tried before doing so.

“The investigation is ongoing, and the (judicial) process is just underway,” he said.

" To Fed Up, I'm not Morman and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. The road that brought u to town will also take u out of town. So why don't u leave if your so unhappy. Now my question to the athletes that are here on scholarships, is who polices their classes? Making sure they are attending and taking at least 12 hrs. to be a full time student. A lot of them enroll for full time and then drop out. They need to be attending their classes and classes of substance. It's time. "

" Please go to www.eac.edu, click on the link for Athletics, click on football, click on roster. Click on each of the young mens names and it will tell you where they are from. The majority are from AZ, GA, HI. There is only one from LA and I don't know if he was on the east side or not and I didn't see any from St. Louis. Education has a lot to do with sports and the self confidence it provides. Educate yourself. Thugs were apparently here before any of these men arrived. "

" Why does EAC have to have a big football and basketball teams, let's just be a academic college with out the sports that requires bringing in East St. Louis and East LA thugs to our valley. When they first arrived back in the 60's they brought lots of heart break to our families here.
Get out and vote in a new college board that will say EDUCATION first. "

" Again, here we go, people love to judge and throw stones at glass houses. When in all actuality no matter where you go 18 year old kids make some bad choices. So to talk smack about the coach and his wife is doing nothing but making it known that you really have no clue. Everybody's too judgemental. We have no idea what happened in that fight. EA kicked a kid out for fighting when in our local high schools kids are just missing games becuase of drugs...we don't hear about that! "

" If you people were'nt there keep your mouths shut. You have no idea what the situation was nor the circumstances upon which this occurred. It's unfortunate that this did happen but there is no taking it back at this point. If you didn't hear it from the horses mouth don't repeat it. As far as tax dollars you don't know if he is here on FAFSA, Scholarship or his own dime. As far as thugs in the community you really mean if they are not Mormon don't bring them into the community. Say what you mean. "

" According to the official college spokesperson Todd Haynie EAC has taken no action whatsoever. I also heard Omera and his wife have been sticking up for Livingston and bad mouthing the guy who got hurt. Could the fact that Livingston is a huge defensive end who contributes to the team and the victim is a small benchwarmer (only 140 lbs) who is inconsiquential. Tell you what, Livingston likes to pick on little guys, well I'm 6'4 265, I'll give him a lesson if the casual and careless coach doesn't want the law to handle it. Anytime pal. "

I know that there are others besides myself who want to see that these thug recruits are punished, aka in the arrest section of the paper. We want to see that they are not only charged but that they are being sentenced and serving time! "

" There seems to be problems with EAC and their football players. And since we dont want to wreck a good season we dont want to take any disciplinary action. Its good to see the taxes in Graham County going to a good cause to support these losers running the college and the thugs they bring into our community. "
