A Safford man had to be treated at the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center after being attacked and robbed at his residence Saturday evening.

Safford officers were dispatched to the area of 13th Street and Central Avenue in reference to several males fighting at around 7:16 p.m. Upon the officers’ arrival, a witness told police the suspects had left, heading toward Circle K in a black car and a white truck.

Officers caught up with the vehicles and activated their emergency lights. The car pulled over, but the truck failed to stop.

Officer Brad Reynolds continued to follow the truck and noticed the driver throw out what appeared to be glass pipes covered in tissue paper. Reynolds later recovered two pipes after the vehicle stopped after turning west on Bonita Street from Central Avenue.

The driver of the black car was identified as Zachari Cordova, and his passengers were Charles Amaro, Oscar Amaro and Anthony Garcia. Officer Lance Shurtz noticed that Charles had blood on his shirt and asked him what happened at the residence.

Charles admitted to the officer that he entered the home through a side door and fought with one of its residents.

The victim was interviewed at the hospital and said he remembered guys pounding on his front door. He was also suddenly attacked by Charles.

Officer Reynolds discovered stereo equipment in the truck when he pulled it over. According to his report, the driver, Armando Franciso Gonzales, said Charles and Garcia helped load a Scorpion speaker box with two 12-inch Kicker speakers into the back of his truck. A Lanzar amplifier was also located on the floor of the black car where Garcia was sitting.

Officers arrested Charles for burglary and aggravated assault and Gonzales for possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful flight from law enforcement.
