Members of the National Honor Society and Spanish Club at Safford High School spent the day before Thanksgiving preparing and delivering boxes of food to the less fortunate.

For two weeks, Safford High School students brought in canned food and dried goods for the project.

After school, approximately 20 teenagers assembled festive boxes and filled them with the collected cans and hot food purchased by the Spanish Club.

Nine to 12 less-fortunate families received boxes filled with dried food as well as a chicken, pie, rolls and bottles of juice.

In pairs, the upper classmen delivered the food to the chosen families.

Sandra Jurado, the Spanish Club adviser, said the project has been going on for the last 10 years.
