For the second time this year, a young adult male has been charged with having sexual intercourse with a female victim who was only 14 years of age.
Tyson Bruce Brown, 20, of Safford appeared before Justice Court II Judge Dewey Bryce on Wednesday for his preliminary hearing. Brown is charged with one count of sexual intercourse with a minor, a class-2 felony.
Elias Bryton Blake, 21, of Safford was arraigned Aug. 12 on two counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
At Brown’s hearing, Thatcher Police Department Sgt. Everett Cauthen testified that he discovered Brown and the juvenile victim in a state of undress inside Brown’s 1979 white Lincoln Coupe.
Carter said Brown admitted to having unprotected sex with the victim. Carter’s report states Brown said he knew what he was doing was wrong but that the victim had seduced him. He said it was the only time he had sex with the victim.
According to Cauthen’s police report, the victim admitted to her mother that she had intercourse with Brown several times in the past month. She allegedly made the admission while her mother drove her to the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center to be examined.
Judge Bryce found probable cause that Brown committed the crime and bound the case over to Superior Court for arraignment on Dec. 12 at 9 a.m. Brown remains in the custody of the Graham County Jail with a bond of $20,000. |
