Kevin Yadon of Thatcher was recently recognized by the Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association as a professional miner and awarded at the Professional Miner Marble level.

The Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association was organized in 1916 to promote health and safety in the mining industry. The association recognizes miners and mine operators who adhere to its standards. Individual miners who have worked injury-free for various periods of time are recognized by the association through the Professional Miner Program. The Marble level is for miners with no lost-workday injuries over a 10-year period.

Yadon started working at Coeur Rochester, a silver mine in northern Nevada for Coeur d’Alene mines, in May 1991 and worked there until the end of July 2007. He then went to work for Phelps Dodge at the Safford mine at the end of July 2007 and continues to look forward to achieving the next levels of the Professional Miner Program.

Professional miners embrace safety and health as values that are critical to mining the many natural resources needed to keep this country strong and growing. More information on this program can be found on the Mine Safety and Health Administration Web site.
