Oh Christmas Tree!, The annual Festival of Trees located at the Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church Volunteer Hall began Dec. 8 and runs through the 14th. The public was invited to view the decorated trees brought in by the community.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony Dec. 8, Father Ariel Lustan introduced the event’s theme of “Celebrating Christmas To-day.” He challenged everyone to celebrate Christmas in a creative, meaningful way to balance the economic circumstances.

Safford Mayor Ron Green said he appreciates the church as well as other churches that serve as support groups to the community by hosting events such as the tree display.

A silver sculpted frame from Italy named “Il Cenacolo—” the Last Supper in Italian—will be raffled at the event. Raffle tickets are $25, and the drawing will be Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. Funds will benefit the church’s roofing project.

Baked goods and homemade items will be sold at the event.

The Festival of Trees is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The hall is located at 311 S. Central Ave. in Safford. For more information call 428-6746.
