So you will not be able to collect unemployment. Where if you take the voluntary you can collect unemployment after your severance pay is up.
I put in for the voluntary due to if they call you back for a job that means they can call you back where ever production is needed, haul truck etc. "

By what I understand, taking the 20hr part time offer you will have to sign the deal giving up all rights as a full time employee. Loss of all full time benefits, including medical, and overtime. Also you will no longer be a non-exempt employee so if there is another layoff you would not be eligable for any other severance pay if it is again offered. You have untill 4pm Monday Feb. 9th to decide either way,and turn in all necessary paperwork. If you take the severance the last day to work is Friday Feb. 13th. "

Say if your a guard it will go based on how the gate is being ran, your safety record and how you are dispatching things. That was just an example we were given. Which makes since. " First of all, I'm a contract worker at Morenci and I feel very badly for those who are directly affected by the lay offs. Secondly, my opinion is that FMI got greedy and seemed to be counting on copper prices being well over $2/pound for a long time. Even I believed it.
When copper fell, FMI slammed on the brakes and everybody involved hits the winshield.
That's business though. Be proactive instead of reactive. When one door closes another one opens..... I'm looking for work in another state now... "
