In response to the State budget deficit of more than $1 billion in the current fiscal year, the Arizona Judicial Branch has developed and implemented a plan to reduce budget spending and preserve a high quality of the administration of justice to the residents of Arizona. On Thursday, January 8, 2009, Arizona Supreme Court Chief Justice Ruth V. McGregor issued an administrative order to the courts in Arizona, ordering specific actions for the courts of the state to reduce budget spending.
