Frank Naccarati

Frank Naccarati, 85, longtime resident of Morenci, passed away in his Verde Lee home Monday, June 22, 2009. Born in Globe on July 22, 1923, to Carmelo and Matilda Naccarati, he was raised in Morenci. After graduating from Morenci High School, Frank served in the Navy during WWII. Then he attended Arizona State University, where he met Margaret “Marge” Thompson, and they were married in 1948.

The couple moved to Morenci, where they raised their three sons. It is hard to talk about Frank without thinking about the family-owned service station. Originally owned by their father, Frank and Joe took ownership in the 1950s and served the community with hard work and integrity until 2006.

Frank loved his growing family and enjoyed many activities with them: camping, quail and dove hunting, and spending time on the San Francisco River.

Marge passed away in 1982. Many years later, Frank married Lillian Craig, who passed away a few years ago. Frank was a valuable member of the community and will be missed by the many people who knew him.

Frank is survived by his sons, Mike (Linda) Naccarati of Pima, David (Shona) Naccarati of Tucson, John (Jan) Naccarati of Morenci; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Frances Naccarati and Mary Daniel, both of Clifton. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marge, brother Joe Naccarati and granddaughter Natalie.

Graveside services were conducted Monday, June 29, at 10 a.m. in the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Morenci by Deacon Sam Fullen, and military honors were provided by the Greenlee County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mt. Graham Hospice or Mt. Graham Cancer Center.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Caldwell Funeral Chapel.

" Frank Naccarati was well liked and respected by those who knew him, as evidenced by the many friends and family who attended his graveside service. We'll miss visiting with Frank at the family get-togethers at David and Shona's. "

" I am so sorry to hear of Frank's loss.
My cousin Johnny Rutherford, spoke highly of the entire family. I would drive over from Glenwood to take my aunt and son to get hair cuts and see the Naccarati family. "

" I'm so sorry to hear of Frank's passing. As kids we'd ride our bikes up to Naccarati's and fill our tires up and buy candy. Just over a year ago, I provided Frank with pest control at his house. He was always kind and patient and good to talk to. Enjoyed his son Mike's acquantance too. Good people. "

" I am saddened to hear of Frank's passing. I remember filling up at the station in old Morenci, at the bottom of Stargo hill and then during the gas shortage of 74. Condolences also are sent from Becky Powers Scott, also MHS class of 1974. God bless his family. "

" My deepest sympathy to all the Naccarati family. We first became acquainted with Frank & Joe in the early 60s. Frank was always so kind and caring & always had a joke for everyone. He was extremely kind to us when Willis was killed in a hit & run incident. He will always hold a place in our hearts. Leota, Shanna, Shane & Elizabeth Dunagan &family "
