Myrna Hawkins

Myrna E. Hawkins passed away June 9, 2009, at her home in Eden. She was born April 23, 1938, and has lived in Arizona her whole life. Myrna married Dave Hawkins in 1956 and was blessed with seven children, 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Myrna always made Christmas time special for her family, no matter the circumstances. She and Dave also loved to tell stories about the 1950s and how great they were, and everyone enjoyed listening about their experiences. A family favorite is the story of when they lived in a trailer in Bowie. It was so hot that they had purchased the biggest swamp cooler they could find; they brought it home in a 1956 Ford convertible. Dave had to use a loader to lift it onto the roof. When they proceeded to turn the cooler on, it blew out all the windows of their home.

Myrna Hawkins

Myrna was well loved and will be missed immensely.

Services were held Thursday, June 11, at the Pima LDS Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Caldwell Funeral Cha-pel.

" Myrna was a long-time-ago friend of mine. We were Safford High School cheerleaders together in those good old times of the 50's. I never heard her say a bad word about anyone. She had a good heart. I know her family and friends will miss her greatly. "
