Partnership members learned details of the class during its Aug. 12 meeting.
The class begins Sept. 2 at the college’s Discovery Park Campus. Classes will meet from 5-8 p.m. each Wednesday through Nov. 14. The class will also include several field trips held on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost of the class is $120. A limited number of scholarships are available, and those 55 and older are eligible for a tuition waiver.
Field trips will include visits to San Simon, Duncan, Bonita Creek, Gila River, Kaler Ranch and the Apache Grove project near Duncan.
In another water matter, partnership members learned the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension received a grant to fund water harvesting projects. These projects will be set up at the Cooperative Extension Office, the Safford Chamber of Commerce and the Simpson Hotel in Duncan.
Holder said the projects will demonstrate how to collect rainwater from roofs. The harvested water can be used to water plants and gardens.
