The Eastern Arizona College Discovery Park Campus Lecture Series will continue with a free slide show and lecture titled "Who Are the Athapaskans?" on Saturday, Oct. 31, 6:30 p.m., in the Jupiter Room of Discovery Park Campus. This lecture, presented by Discovery Park Campus Dean Harry Swanson, will discuss many of the representatives of the Athapaskan people in the Western United States.

"Many may not be aware that the Diné (Navajo) and N'deh (Apache) peoples are of this cultural stock," Swanson said. "So, too, are many peoples who inhabit northern Mexico, California, Oregon and Alaska. In this lecture, the mythology and anthropology of several of these important cultures will be highlighted.

"Having lived in Alaska for more than 20 years, I have always been fascinated by the wonderful lifeways of the Athapaskan people there," Swanson said. "When I discovered that the Diné and N'deh were also of this same cultural stock, I was amazed. It is my hope to share some of this wonder with our audience."
