George W. Schumaker Jr.

George W. Schumaker Jr., 78, of Safford passed away Oct. 13, 2009, at his home after a brief illness. George was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Indianapolis to Hazel and George W Schumaker Sr. He married Nancy Lou Rice on Dec. 30, 1950.

Many people will remember George working as a TV and radio technician at Green’s Western Auto and later owning Schumaker TV Service on Safford’s Main Street. George lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding horses, camping, fishing and traveling. He will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.

George was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Lou. He is survived by his four children: Trey (Beth) of Spencer, Ind.; Linda (Scott) Oster of Silver Bay, Minn.; Cindi Erickson and Louis (Stephanie) of Safford; seven grandchildren: Timmy, Jessie and Jill of Indiana, Kris of Washington, Kendan and Paizlee of Safford; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Frances and Elizabeth, out of state, also survive.

A memorial service was held Friday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. in the Caldwell Funeral Chapel. A reception followed after the service at the home of Luis Schumaker.

Arrangements were entrusted to Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
