Funeral services for Patrick Zink, 53, of Thatcher, who passed away in Tucson, will be conducted Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Thatcher LDS Stake Center by Bishop Kevin Jensen of the Thatcher Fifth Ward. Concluding services will follow in the Thatcher Cemetery.
Patrick Earl Zink was born in La Jolla, Calif., on Jan. 3, 1956, the son of Leonard Earl Zink and Bette Means Talbot. He spent his formative years in Escondido, Calif. At the tender age of 9, Patrick was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Patrick returned to school at Eastern Arizona College. While studying to obtain his degree in computer technologies, Patrick was hired as a computer service technician at the college. He dedicated his time and talents at Eastern Arizona College until May 1 of this year, following a decline in his health.
Throughout his lifetime, Patrick was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various capacities including ward financial clerk, primary teacher and dedicated home teach-er. He also enjoyed photography, gardening, cooking and a good political debate. Patrick will be remembered for his love of life and family.
Patrick is survived by his three daughters, Amber and Heather, each of Safford, and Alisha of Thatcher; his son, Christopher (Liesel) of Laveen; his mother, Bette Talbot of Lebanon, Ore.; and his father, Leonard Zink of San Diego; two sisters, Barbara Rowland (Marvin) of Bremerton, Wash., and Shari Mickelson of Portland, Ore.; and two grandsons, Espen and Ethan Zink.
Patrick was preceded in death by his stepfather, Dale Talbot, and stepmother, Libby Zink.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Vining Funeral Home and Monday morning from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the Thatcher LDS Stake Center Relief Society Room.
