Felipe Sanchez Sr.

Felipe C. Sanchez Sr., 83, of Eden passed away Oct. 18, 2009, in Phoenix. Felipe was born Sept. 10, 1926, in Sanchez to Ruben and Rosaura Sanchez and was one of 10 children. His siblings are Nicolas, Ruben, Alicia, Josefina, Willy, Nicho, Henry and Celia.

He was raised and educated in Sanchez, where he graduated from the Sanchez School.

Felipe served in the Army during World War II in the Philippine Theater. He married Alberta Kindelay on Aug. 1, 1949, in Safford. Felipe worked in the mine at San Manuel and as a farmer. He enjoyed gardening and being outside.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alberta Sanchez; his children, Arthur, Victor, Felipe Jr., William, Phoebe, Carol, Avalina and Ella Mae; adopted children Gilbert and Lori; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and two sons, Dionicio and Daniel.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. in the Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Felipe will be laid to rest at the Sanchez Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Gila Valley Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of the Caldwell Funeral Chapel.

    My deepest sympathy for you loss. Take care of your mother. To Chubby, Carol and Avalina you girls are in my thoughts, I will not be going to Safford as my daughter have a Cancer survivors celebration to go to on Saturday. We will celebrate her life cancer free as her leukemia is in remission. But I will be there in spirit give my best to your mother. Love you all, Annie "
