Douglas Hinton

Douglas Bert Hinton, 75, of Geronimo passed away at his home Oct. 12, 2009. Doug was born May 21, 1934, in Thatcher to Bert and Vera Hinton. After high school, he graduated from EAC and later attended ASU. Doug was active in sports, rodeos and the Arizona Cactus Kings Band. He married Patricia Ann Frazier on March 11, 1955, and they were blessed with four children, Joe Bill, Tim, Dawn and Mike.

Doug retired from the Graham County Sheriff's Department in 1996 after 20 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising cattle, rodeos, playing cards and getting together with friends.

Doug is survived by his best friend and companion, Betty Hamman. He is also survived by his children, Joe Bill Hinton, Tim (Nina) Hinton, Dawn Hinton and Mike Hinton; his sister, Vonda Lou Bieth, five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann; parents, Bert and Vera Hinton; brother-in-law, Joe Bieth; and granddaughter Kayla Hinton.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. in the Fort Thomas Ward Chapel, with burial following at the Hinton Family Cemetery in Geronimo, where he was laid to rest. A visitation was held at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m, with a family viewing one hour prior to the funeral services at the church. Arrangements were under the direction of the Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
