After struggling to a 14-7 win over Pima in the season opener, the Monsters pounded the Aztecs 49-6 in Thatcher on a night synonymous with ghouls and goblins.
Eastern, which rose to No. 11 in the NJCAA poll yesterday, improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the WSFL with the win.
Other than some poor blocking on PAT attempts which resulted in two blocked kicks, Eastern was masterful on offense and defense.
Pima had minus-4 yards of offense in the second half and gained just 83 yards in the game.
Prince Ryans, Corry Roy and Caleb Walden each intercepted a pass for the EAC defense, and Roy returned his for a touchdown.
“We’re playing pretty well right now,” Monsters head coach John O’Mera said.
“We’ll see next week. We’re ready to step up and take another challenge, and I think Scottsdale is going to be that challenge.”
Eastern has two regular season games left at Scottsdale (Nov. 7) and home against Phoenix (Nov. 14).
The Monsters are already bowl eligible and have their sights set on a strong finish and a bowl game.
