The Mount Graham Regional Medical Center Foundation will host the Health Raisers event — a fund-raiser aimed at raising money to purchase equipment for colon cancer screening.

This event replaces the foundation's annual fund-raising dinner and auction that is usually held in the fall.

The fun begins at 7 a.m. on Oct. 31 at the Safford Regional Airport. The main events will include the Gila Valley's first half-marathon, a 30-mile bicycle race and a 2-mile fun walk. The latter is not a race, hospital spokesman Ryan Rapier said.

The event will include a classic car show, a motorcycle display and an aircraft display that will include a Russian MiG fighter jet.

"Anyone paying admission will be able to vote on displays," Rapier said, adding that prizes will be given to the displays garnering the most votes.

The event will also include food vendors and entertainment, including music.

The event will end at 3 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-17. Children younger than 5 will be admitted for free.

The fee for entering an event is $20. This fee includes admission to the Health Raiser.
