Refugia Perea

Refugia (Cuca) De Anda Moran Perea, 95, passed away Oct. 20, 2009, at her son's home in Thatcher. Cuca was born April 4, 1914, to Bartolo and Aleja De Anda Moran of Gomez Palacio Durango, Mexico.

She married the love of her life, Francisco (Kiko) Rangel Perea, of Clifton. They were married 72 years and had five sons, the first two deceased. Her husband, Francisco (Kiko), passed away Dec. 27, 2003. They lived in Clifton prior to moving to Safford. They owned the Central Hotel, Antique, Jewelry Store and The Oasis Night Club. They moved in 1965 to Safford.

Cuca was a loving, caring wife, mother and friend and stood by her husband as they owned The Swedes Liquor Store in Safford, sold Manufacturer Homes and operated an insurance and real estate brokerage.

Cuca was surrounded at death by her three sons, Dr. Manuel (Patricia) Perea of Saginaw, Mich., Dr. Frank Richard Perea of Thatcher (Ronda Mullen of Safford) and Charles Perea of Mesa.

Cuca is survived by her three sons, Dr. Manuel (Patricia) Perea, Dr. Frank Perea and Charles (Gloria) Perea. There are also two granddaughters, Heather (John) Beering and Julie Perea; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Catherine Beering; two grandsons, Zachary (Robyn) and their two sons, Eric and Kyle Romero; and a great-grandson Perea of Casa Grande on the way, and Chaz Perea of California; one sister, Nollie (Thomas) Rodriguez of Durango, Mexico.

Funeral arrangements will be held at Vining Funeral Home, 1940 S. 20th Ave., Safford, 428-4000. A public viewing is Tuesday, Oct. 27, 5-8 p.m. A rosary will be recited Wednesday, Oct. 28, 10 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Safford Cemetery after the service.

The family would like to invite everyone to join them at the Manor House Restaurant to eat, visit and share the loss of a wonderful lady.

The Perea family would like to express sincere appreciation for everyone's condolences, flowers, food, telephone calls and the very special mementos during the passing of our dear mother, Refugia Cuca Perea. The passing of our beloved mother has affected so many, and her beautiful smile and wonderful stories will be missed by many.
