MVD offices in Clifton and Willcox are on the closure list, according to an ADOT announcement Nov. 24. ADOT is closing those offices in an effort to overcome a $100 million budget deficit that is connected to Arizona's budget crisis, the announcement stated.
"Before the offices can be closed, a U.S. Department of Justice review is required to ensure compliance with the Voting Rights Act of 1965 because the offices provide voter registration services," the ADOT announcement stated.
The offices on the closure list were evaluated on several factors, including the facilities, the availability of alternative service locations and the number of customers served.
According to the review, the 12 offices serviced a combined total of 28,500 customers per month, ranging from 11,300 for the central Phoenix location to 201 in Clifton.
Arizona residents can conduct several transactions online through www.ServiceArizona.com or by visiting one of more than 140 third-party vendors throughout the state. A list of alternative or third-party locations is available at www.azdot.gov/budgetroadmap or www.azmvdservices.com.

Better get all your cars and trailers up to date so you can do this stuff online or you might need to take a trip to Tucson to get it done.
Maybe they can have a 1 lane operation at the Post Office or something? "
