An 18ct gold ring with diamonds that was reported stolen Saturday was returned the following day.

An elderly Safford resident called police to her home on Main Street on Saturday after noticing her ring was missing. The woman told Safford officer Sherri O'Neal that she normally wears the ring but took it off and placed it in a jewelry box in her bedroom before she was admitted to the hospital for surgery Nov. 18.

She said she didn't feel well enough to wear the ring after leaving the hospital until Nov. 27. When she went to retrieve it from the box, she noticed it was gone, according to O'Neal's report. There were numerous gold bracelets and other jewelry in the box, and it appeared only the ring was taken.

The victim was distraught over the ring being missing and said it was valued at between $8,000 to $10,000. She said it meant even more to her for sentimental reasons because her late husband had purchased the ring for her when they were in Gibraltar, a British territory located on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula and Europe at the entrance of the Mediterranean Sea overlooking the Straight of Gibraltar.

The victim said she called a pawn shop and jewelry store to see if they had seen the ring but wasn't able to find out anything substantive. She said she had also told all of her family and friends she had filed a police report about her missing ring.

The next morning, as she walked out her front door to get her newspaper, she spotted the ring laying on the ground next to her front porch. She told police she thinks a family member may have taken the ring and brought it back, according to O'Neal's report.

" The ad is based on the story about the ring. That's how google ads work. they're web- content based. For example, if you go to a hunting page that supports itsself with adsense, you'll probably see a lot of google ads for hunting gear.

Regarding the article, I'm glad she got her ring back. She either misplaced it, or the thief was someone close to her who decided to wash their hands clean after learning of the police report. "

" Kind of ironic that there's an ad for rings over on the right side of the page. Is this really breaking news?? "
