Deborah Grady Armbrust

Deborah Grady Armbrust entered into eternal rest Nov. 3, 2017, surrounded by her loving family in Safford, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Debbie was born in Morenci on June 8, 1952. She graduated from Morenci High School in 1970, and then graduated from University of Arizona in 1974, with her Bachelor of Arts in education (with high distinction).

Debbie married the love of her life, Jim Armbrust, on June 22, 1974, and they moved back to Morenci to start their family.

Debbie proudly worked for the Morenci School District for more than 25 years, where she influenced so many lives. She was selected as Arizona Rural Teacher of the Year in 2003. She retired from her passion of teaching in 2006.

In retirement, Debbie and Jim split their time between their beloved homes in Alpine and Safford. She loved Alpine, the outdoors, 4-wheeler rides, reading, card games with close friends, her beloved Arizona Wildcats and, most of all, spending time with all her family and friends.

Debbie is survived by: her husband, Jim; mother, Gwen Grady; brother, Steve Grady; sister-in-law, Cindy Grady; oldest son, Russ Armbrust (Eryn Armbrust); grandsons, Mkay Armbrust and Kyler Armbrust; youngest son, Tim Armbrust (Brandy Armbrust); grandson, Bennett Armbrust; and granddaughter, Teegan Armbrust.

Debbie was thoughtful and full of kindness, and her love will endure forever. She will be missed by all.

Her motto was “Never quit loving and learning.”

The family suggests contributions in Debbie’s memory be made to The American Cancer Society or a scholarship that will be established in her name.

Funeral services for Debbie will be conducted Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at noon, at Vining Funeral Home’s Chapel of the Valley.

The family will receive friends Friday morning, Nov. 10, 2017, from 11 a.m. until service time at noon, also at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, Nov. 11, 2017, at 1 p.m., at the Alpine Cemetery in Alpine, where Debbie will be laid to rest.

Arrangements are entrusted to Vining Funeral Home.
