A rodeo school will be held in Bylas on Nov. 27-29 at the Bylas Rodeo Grounds. Full riding, bareback, saddle bronc and bull fighting cost $150 for three days; and steer riding and junior bulls cost $100 for three days.

Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Fit Challenge and Dribble, Dash, Swish
The Boys & Girls Club of the San Carlos Apache Nation is hosting two Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA events in November. The first event was the NBA Fit Challenge for boys and girls ages 8 to 14, held Nov. 13 at Burdette Hall. The second event will be the NBA Dribble, Dash and Swish for boys and girls ages 7 to 12. This event will be held also at Burdette Hall on Friday, Nov. 27, with late registration at 6 p.m. and competition starting at 6:30 p.m. In both events participants have the chance to advance to regional and national competitions. Winners must have a copy of their birth certificates in order to be eligible to advance or receive any awards. Early registration can be done at the San Carlos Boys & Girls Club. Toys for Tots drive is in full swing
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation selected Greg St. Hilaire to be the first Toys for Tots coordinator for Graham and Greenlee counties in 2007. Nearly 10,000 toys were distributed to Graham and Greenlee county children in 2007. In 2008, Globe and Miami were added to Greg St. Hilaire’s territory, and nearly 16,000 toys were collected and distributed to needy children in his campaign area.

Big Read Art Contest winners announced
Recently, the 2009 Big Read Art Contest was held jointly by the Safford Library, Gila Valley Arts Council, Graham County Supt. of Schools and Eastern Arizona College. The artwork was based on scenes from "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." The artwork will be on display at the Safford Library until Nov. 30.
