SAFFORD — A Polanco will be serving the public at Arizona State Prison Complex-Safford/Fort Grant Unit for years to come.

The Arizona State Prison System honored Captain Ray Polanco for his 30 years of service, with a softball field named in his honor.

Polanco was known for his encouraging inmates to engage in positive activities.

The welcome was given by Deputy Warden Kim Daniel, followed by invocation and blessing of the ball field by Chaplain Mark Stevens. Warden Lyle Broadhead gave the presentation of the plaque, and a letter from Director Charles Ryan was presented.
