Canyonlands Community Health Care provides a myriad of health and wellness services to lower income people throughout Arizona, though few in the the community truly understand the scope of its reach.

Canyonlands is a federally qualified health center, meaning it is supported by grants under the U.S. Public Health Service Act and can provide medical services at a reduced charge or no cost to recipients.

Federally qualified health center provide comprehensive, culturally competent quality  primary healthcare services to medically underserved communities and vulnerable populations.  Canyonlands is one of approximately 1,200 in the United States.

Consumers without insurance can receive the benefit of services on a sliding fee scale, with discounts ranging from 25 to 75 percent, depending on income and family size.  There is an on-site financial counselor to assist patients in finding the most affordable means of receiving quality healthcare.  Those with insurance are also welcome at Canyonlands as high deductibles can also be problematic in paying for necessary services.

A Globe location with two family practice providers is scheduled to open Monday, Oct. 1, and the Clifton office, also strictly family practice physicians, is expected to be available sometime mid-October.

Canyonlands in Safford proudly offers primary care and preventive services, urgent medical services, immunizations, obstetrical care, breast-feeding education, diagnostic laboratory, occupational health, family planning, prenatal and parenting education, health education, preventive therapeutic services, translation services, substance abuse counseling and treatment, comprehensive dental care and same-day appointments to ensure the most convenient and comprehensive treatment in the Gila Valley.

One of the contracted providers for Canyonlands, JoAnn Draper, in addition to providing medical services three days per week, is the owner and proprietor of Keystone Addiction Recovery and Education Service.  Keystone is a local business providing treatment for alcohol and other drug dependency with a holistic drug-free approach to treatment.
