A trip to the store for a gallon of milk or a quick meal just got a little easier for hundreds of residents living south of town in the scenic surroundings of Graham County on April 1.

“I’m very excited to have a Dollar General out here where I live. I live pretty far from town, so this is nice,” said Joe Jordan, new customer of the Dollar General.

Although the facility at Roper Lake Road and Highway 191 will be ideal for anglers, families and tourists visiting Roper Lake, Jackson said there was an immediate need for a grocery and general merchandise store for the scattered citizens off the highway in the Gila Valley.

“We’re mainly out at the location on Roper Lake Road to serve that rural community,” said Kim Jackson, general manager of the Dollar General.

Jackson said the Dollar General has a wide selection of $1 items, but not everything in the store is a dollar. Thirteen cold doors provide a variety of cold to frozen foods from hamburger to milk.

“We even have steak here, and everything is competitively priced. There’s a little bit of everything,” Jackson said.

The grand opening of the Dollar General will be around April 15, but the official date has not been confirmed. The Dollar General phone number of (928) 348-7750 is experiencing some technical difficulties but should be up and running by the grand opening. The hours of operation are Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the exception of Christmas day.
