SAFFORD — Get a leg up on the competition and learn how to literally grow a small business.

The University of Arizona Graham County Cooperative Extension, Our Neighbor’s Farm, Eastern Arizona College, Discovery Park and Small Business Development Center are teaming to offer the Beginning Farmer program series.

This workshop is designed for those interested in starting a business growing vegetables and other specialty crops. Participants will gain first-hand experience developing a business plan and acquire niche-marketing skills.

ON the growing side, participants will learn how to build and operate a hoop house so that they can super-charge the annual growing and market potential of their land.

This course is also appropriate for individuals simply growing gardens for their own use.

Classes will take place from 1-4 p.m. on Feb. 27, March 13 and March 27 at the ranch house at Eastern Arizona College’s Discovery Park campus. Cost is $20 and the program is available to anyone 14 and older.

Class size is limited. Call 928-428-2611 to register.
