The new Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple could be located on Highway 70 in Central.

The Graham County Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to give a favorable recommendation to a petition for a height restriction exception for the temple’s proposed 100-foot steeple. The applicant for the exception was the Corporation of the Presiding Bishop.

The address named in the petition is 5291 W. Highway 70, Central.

The Graham County Board of Supervisors will consider the height exception request Oct. 20.

The LDS Church announced in April the construction of a temple in the Gila Valley.
