SAFFORD — Those who dedicate themselves to helping others could find themselves recognized for their efforts.

Arizona Community Foundation of the Gila Valley is calling for nominations for Volunteer of the Year and Nonprofit Organization of the Year in both Greenlee and Graham counties.

“Whether they contribute time to volunteer, lend financial support to great causes or provide leadership for nonprofit organizations, this is your opportunity to honor them,” said Ted Prina, chair of ACF of the Gila Valley, in announcing the call for nominations.

Nominations can be submitted in the following categories:

• Ed and Angie Sawyer Volunteer of the Year (Graham County)

• Graham County Nonprofit Organization of the Year

• Greenlee County Volunteer of the Year

• Greenlee County Nonprofit Organization of the Year.

Previous Greenlee County recipients were Doug Barlow (volunteer) and Duncan Pride Society in 2017, and Cathie Gross (volunteer) in 2018. In Graham County, previous recipients were John Bonefas (volunteer) and Safford Lions Club in 2017, and Ruth Powell (volunteer) and Mt. Graham Safe House in 2018.

Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. July 22, and awards will be presented at the Gila Valley Grants Celebration on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
