The Graham County Health Department announced two additional COVID-19 deaths Tuesday, bringing to 111 the total number of residents to die since the start of the pandemic.
The victims were in their 60s, said Brian Douglas, health department director.
As of Tuesday, 430 local residents were battling the virus.
According to health department statistics, 7,175 Graham County residents have caught the virus since the start of the pandemic.
As of Oct. 11, 2020, 940 residents had come down with COVID-19 and 26 of them had died. Of the 6,235 residents who have caught the virus since then, 48% or 2,991 of them have been in the 20-44 age group.
There are currently 188 Greenlee County residents battling the virus.
According to the Greenlee County Health Department, as of Oct. 11, 2020, 64 residents had caught COVID-19 and two patients had died. As of Oct. 11, 2021, 1,037 residents had contracted the virus and 16 had died.
According to the state health department, 46% of Greenlee's patients have been in the 20-44 age group.
